A customer and friend, David Celia, has a cool video that I thought you might like. I should have posted this on Mother’s Day, better late than never. Yep, mom’s are the best.

Every Sunday we are posting a single video demo paired with a recent review from Harmony Central. This week it is the Eastwood Sidejack DLX- I have no idea who did this, but it is cool and entitled “Wankin’ on my Eastwood Sidejack.”

This week it is the Airline H44 DLX being taken for a test drive by April Wine guitarist, Brian Greenway. Enjoy!
Sunday June 6th was a fine day here in Toronto. We had the pleasure of spending some time with the guys from R.E.M. prior to their show at the Molson Amphitheatre. As many of you know, Scott McCaughey has been playing an Eastwood Sidejack Guitar for more than half of the songs on this tour (Scott is the long-time sideman for R.E.M.).

Modal scales, or modes, are the different ways the major scale can function and sound. Any one of the major scale’s seven notes can function as the root. Each root, or mode, has a unique tonality and sound. All music is either based on or thought of in relation to the major scale and its modes. Using and understanding modes is critical to developing a knowledge of guitar music theory and understanding popular songs. Modal scales have caused an enormous amount of confusion and frustration, perhaps more than any other musical concept. Unfortunately, most modal instruction is either incorrect or misleading.Modal scales, or modes, are the different ways the major scale can function and sound. This month is the first part of a two-parter about Vintage Magnatone Amplifiers. This month, I’ll be focusing on one underrated and rare model, while next month I’ll break down the 5 distinct collectable (i.e. tube and mostly vibrato) periods of Magnatone Amps (from the late 40s to the late 60s before they went to Solid State models in the late 60s before going belly up in 1971).
Sometimes pictures say more than words…
Most guitarists, when in their formative years of learning and playing, tend to focus on learning chords. Lead guitar is often something that comes later on, as you need to understand how harmonies work over the existing backing chords.
